Originally, the game was played between three pairs of contestants that competed against each other in trying to solve a word puzzle. The game is played with the help of a big wheel that designates the prizes that can be won by contestants.
According to recent data, it has been one of the most watched and the longest running show since May 1984. To tell the truth, it is the third program that has been in the air the longest. Two others are Entertainment Tonight and Soul Train, that has been cancelled in 2006. The producer of the show is Sony Pictures Television.
The first hosts from 1988 and 1989 were M. G. Kelly, Johnny Gilbert, Don Morrow and Don Pardo, 1988-1989 have been years of Jack Clark. Charlie O’Donnell came on screen as a host of Wheel of Fortune in 1989 and now the hosts of the show are Pat Sajak and Vanna White. September 2009 will start a new era in the game of Wheel of Fortune as the show will be broadcasted from Las Vegas, Nevada.
